Tut Meaning and Definition

The term "tut" is an informal expression used to convey disapproval, annoyance, or impatience, often in a mild or slightly sarcastic way. It can be used to show that someone finds a situation, behavior, or comment to be irritating, disappointing, or unacceptable.

For example, if someone makes a mistake that could have easily been avoided, you might say "tut" to express your annoyance or disappointment without saying much else. It's an onomatopoeic word that mimics a "tsk" or "tut-tut" sound made when clicking the tongue against the roof of the mouth.

"tut" is typically used in casual conversations and is often accompanied by a shake of the head or a rolling of the eyes to emphasize disapproval or exasperation.
